Description

Find your way through a labyrinth seen in first person, room by room, as fast as you can. You start in the north-west corner facing north, beside the START sign on the wall, and the way out is the FINISH sign in the south-east corner: stand in the last room facing south. The labyrinth is a grid of rooms with stone pillars and stones dropped at random, always with a way through. Your time is counted in seconds. You can look at the map, YOU ARE HERE, whenever you like, but each look adds 10 seconds. A compass shows which way you face. A second game, MAZE, digs a perfect maze with only one way between any two rooms. The best time of each game is kept.

Controls: Use either joystick. Up walks forward one room, down turns you round, and left and right turn. The button shows the map; press a button again to go back. The keypad is not used.

ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From COMPUTE!'s Gazette, December 1984: original Commodore 64 program by John Stilwell. One BASIC listing serves both the Commodore 64 and the VIC-20. This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
