Description
A deduction puzzle. Five atoms hide in an eight by eight box, and you find them by shooting beams in from the 32 ports around its edge and watching what comes out. H means the beam hit an atom head on and was absorbed; R means it was turned back out of the port it went in by; and a matching letter at another port shows where a bent beam came out. A beam passing an atom diagonally ahead of it turns away from it, and two atoms on either side send it back. Each port can be fired only once. Mark the five cells you think hold the atoms; on the fifth mark the box opens, and all five right wins. Fewer beams is better, and the lowest winning count is kept as BEST.
Controls: Use either controller. The stick moves the cursor, and either button fires a beam from a port or marks and unmarks a cell inside the box. On the title, up and down choose and a button starts.
ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From COMPUTE!'s Gazette, October 1985: original VIC-20 program (no author named in the issue). The same disk has a different Commodore 64 game under the same name, catalogued separately as Atom Shoot 64 (#042). This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
