Description
A deduction puzzle. Twenty-five mirrors, the quarks, hide in a 15 by 10 box, each slanted one way or the other. You have 25 turns, and each is a SHOT or a GUESS. A shot sends a beam in from one of the 50 ports around the box; it bounces off every mirror it meets and comes out at a port, and the turn's letter is written at both ends. A guess names a cell and a slant: right, the mirror shows and you score 54 less twice the turn number; wrong, you lose half that. Early turns are worth more, so shooting costs points too. Finding all 25 earns a bonus. After the last turn the box opens and shows the mirrors you missed, and the best score is kept.
Controls: Use either controller. The stick moves the cursor and repeats when held. On a port, either button shoots; on a cell, the left button guesses one slant and the right button the other. On the title, up and down choose and a button starts.
ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From COMPUTE!'s Gazette, October 1985: original Commodore 64 program (no author named in the issue). The Commodore 64 'Atom Shoot' is a different game from the VIC-20 one on the same disk (#041); '64' was added to the title to tell them apart. This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
