Description
You are the last defender. Take off from the airfield, then fly out over the sea and the fields where hundreds of enemy ships and tanks are advancing. In the battle the jet slides nearer and farther across the scene while you drop torpedoes at sea and bombs over land, one at a time; a ship is worth 10 and a tank 50. Enemy missiles fly up at you, one at a time, and each one that reaches the jet costs one of five lives. After three rounds the message PREPARE TO LAND appears: come down on the airfield and stop on the runway for MISSION COMPLETED and the next of nine levels. Touching the ground anywhere else means SPLASH! or CRASH! and the game is over.
Controls: Use controller 1 or 2. For take-off and landing, push left to speed up, right to slow down, up to climb and down to dive. In battle the stick slides the jet nearer or farther and a button drops a bomb or torpedo. On the title, push up and down to choose the level and press a button to start.
ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From COMPUTE!'s Gazette, December 1989: original Commodore 64 program (no author named in the issue). Taken from the issue's disk (machine-language program with a BASIC loader). This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
