Laps

A night-time time trial seen from behind your racer. Two racers take turns, three laps each, and the lowest average lap time wins; play against a friend or against the computer, which drives its laps on screen. Push up to speed up and down to slow down, from 50 to 300 miles an hour, and steer left and right. Each lap is a straight, a left-hand bend, a right-hand bend and another straight. In a bend the car is pushed outward, harder the faster you go, so above 250 no one can hold the line. Hitting a kerb, the slow car coming down the road, or the car ahead costs two seconds and drops you back to 50 in the middle of the road.

Controls: The stick: up for faster, down for slower, left and right to steer. A button starts each lap (racer 1 on controller 1, racer 2 on controller 2; with one player either controller). On the title, up and down choose and a button starts.
