Description
BLACK and WHITE stand in a field around a lava vent. The lava spreads outward a cell at a time, and a player it reaches, or who walks into it, is burnt and loses one of five lives before a new round starts. Press the button to switch building on or off: a building player walks more slowly and leaves a brick behind with every step. Bricks hold back the lava for a while, but lava touching a brick heats it through four colours until it melts into lava itself. Both players burnt at the same moment both lose a life. The last player with lives left wins, and if both go out together it is a draw. One player can take BLACK against a computer WHITE.
Controls: Joystick only. BLACK uses controller 1 and WHITE controller 2; in a one-player game either controller moves BLACK. The stick walks and a button switches building on or off. On the title, push up and down to choose a line, left, right or a button to change it, and press a button on START.
ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From COMPUTE!'s Gazette, September 1988: original Commodore 64 program (no author named in the issue). A second build of the same program as #122 (identical source). Machine-language program from the issue's disk. This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
