Description
A code-breaking game. The computer chooses four different colours out of six, black, white, red, blue, purple and green, and hides them in a row. Find them, in order, in ten tries. Build each guess by picking colours from a palette; a guess may repeat colours. After each try you get a black ball for each colour in its right place and a white ball for each other right colour in the wrong place. Crack the code for YOU WIN!! and a rating by the number of tries, from LUCKY GUESS! for one try through EXPERT!!!, PRETTY GOOD! and SO SO! to YOU BARELY GOT IT! for nine or ten. After ten misses the hidden colours are shown. The title keeps count of codes broken, games played and the best game.
Controls: Push left and right to move the hand along the palette. The left button drops that colour into the next hole and, with four holes filled, tries the guess; the right button takes the last colour back.
ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From COMPUTE!'s Gazette, May 1984: original Commodore 64 program (no author named in the issue). This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
