Description
A first-person dungeon adventure. King Arthur's crown lies somewhere on the two levels of Merlin's mine. Walk the corridors in a 3-D view by torchlight, fight spiders, scorpions, rats, bats, goblins, wraiths, serpents and a naga with your sword, and take the relics they drop, among them a key for locked doors, a wand that opens every lock ahead, a shield, an amulet and a ring that makes you unseen for a while. Go down the shafts on a rope and climb back up by the ladders. A wraith steals your relics and hides them in its lair. Your torch fades as time passes, and your life recovers slowly. Bring the crown back to the shaft where you came down and climb out with the rope to win.
Controls: Controller 1 or 2. Up walks forward, down steps back, left and right turn. The left button uses the selected relic (the sword attacks); the right button selects the next relic you carry.
ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From Ahoy! No. 54, June 1988: original Commodore 64 program by Cleveland M. Blakemore. Not printed in the magazine: a bonus on the June 1988 Ahoy! Disk, described as the enhanced version of Vault of Terror (Ahoy! October 1986); the listing's REM still calls it "Vault of Terror" V4.8. This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
