The Farm Game

A farm management simulation. You run a 200-acre farm of five 40-acre fields for 1 to 25 years, starting with $20,000 in the bank. Each year you may read the market news and your finances and sell stored grain on the futures market, then plant wheat, corn or soybeans in each field and choose how much insecticide and herbicide to spread. The weather and the pests decide the yield, and the market decides the price. Planting the same crop twice running yields less, while wheat or corn after soybeans yields more. At harvest you sell what you want and store the rest, pay at least a third of your loan and pay the bills; a shortfall is covered by a loan at 12 percent up to $50,000, and beyond that you are bankrupt. Finish with $20,000 or more to win.

Controls: Use either controller. Push up and down to choose, left and right to change, and press a button to accept. When setting an amount, the right button jumps to the maximum (then the minimum) and the left button accepts. The keypad is not used.
