Description
A first-person 3-D crawl through three levels of a tomb: the Catacombs, the Sepulchre and the Barrow. Find the coal the Demon King guards in the Barrow, turn it to iron and the iron to the Alchemy Stone with incantations, then climb back to the shaft where you came in. Monsters drop the gear you need: the steel hook and the coil of rope for every shaft, the compass, the scroll that maps the level, the mithril ring that opens false walls, the holy symbol that calms the undead, the black cloak that stops anyone fighting you, plus weapons and armour. Traps hide in the floors, and SEARCH finds them. You start with 20 hit points and regain them slowly, while monsters creep toward you.
Controls: Either joystick. Up walks forward, down steps back, left and right turn. The left button strikes the monster in your cell. The right button (or the left button with the stick down) opens the command menu: up and down choose, the left button picks and the right button leaves.
ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From Ahoy! No. 55, July 1988, page 48: original Commodore 64 program by Cleveland M. Blakemore. Last of the author's 3-D trilogy after Vault of Terror (October 1986) and Crypt of Fear (February 1988). This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
