Description
You pilot a little floating bathysphere with a face at its porthole, and when you let go of the stick it bobs back up. A treasure chest drifts along the sandy bottom in the current; dive down and touch it to burst it open for 200 points times the dive number, and a new one sinks in. Air drains from the meter at the top, from green through yellow to red, and refills only at the surface or from bubbles rising out of vents in the seabed, worth 10 points each. Grey sharks weave along their lanes while black sharks hunt you down. Every bite dents the sphere for good and makes it leak air faster. Every third chest takes you a dive deeper, with more and faster sharks. Run out of air and the sphere pops; you have three.
Controls: Push the stick to steer the bathysphere; let go and it rises slowly. The fire button gives a burst of speed that burns air three times as fast, and the second button pauses. The game speed, 1 (fastest) to 4 (slowest), is chosen from a menu with the stick.
ColecoVision version credited in the source to Claude (an AI made by Anthropic) for Amy Studio, in Amy, the language by Amy Bienvenu, 2026: a reimagined adaptation of the published rules. From COMPUTE!'s Gazette, May 1988: original Commodore 64 program by Brian Casey. A new game written from the article's rules; the original was machine language and its listing was not used. Amy Studio also released Treasure Diver: Ocean Expedition, a ChatGPT reinterpretation. This is a modern homebrew adaptation, not a commercial Coleco release.
