Zonker demonstrates his computer skills at the AdamCon 11 demo room. All who look on are fascinated and amazed.
Opening night reception
Event Photo
After the official opening in the reception room, impromptu conversations took place in small groups throughout the room. Pictured here, left to right: Richard Clee, Rich Drushel, Dale Wick, Neil Wick. (Guy Bona can also be seen in the corner of the picture).

More people wandering around and chatting in the reception room. Visible at left are Pat Herrington and Zonker Lynch. You may also recognize others.
Opening night reception
Event Photo
Several Adamites checking out the IHOP menu trying to decide what to have for lunch and breakfast the next day. The plan was to pre-order everything the day before, but we didn't quite get our act together before lunch, and a power outage in the area created lots of competition for fast lunch-time service.

Opening night reception
Event Photo
Ron Mitchell gathered together all his pictures from past AdamCons and discovered to his surprise and horror that there were people in them that he didn't even recognize. (These conventions really have been going on for a while, haven't they?) The task was left to whoever was in attendance to identify all the people in the pictures.
The classroom set-up in the Mt. Rainier room
Event Photo
The Mt. Rainier room served as the computer lab and presentation are for the 1999 Convention. An employee of the hotel came in at one point to check the garbage cans and asked whether it was some kind of computer repair workshop. Neil answered, "Not really." Next question: "Then why are the computers all in pieces?" "Welllll . . ." It seems that PCs are proliferating in among the Adams. There were at least 7 desktop and laptop Windows and Macintosh computers of various kinds in evidence, discreetly used by some of the 18 delegates.
Passing of the banner
Event Photo
Somewhere in the revised schedule the mandatory "Passing of the Banner" was temporarily overlooked, so this was the first thing on the agenda after the crowd arrived back after supper. Seen here (left to right) are Neil and Dale Wick, representing next year's host city, Toronto, aand Ron Mitchell and Bart Lynch, hosts of AdamCon 11.
Passing of the banner
Event Photo
Another picture of the lucky (?) recipients seems to confirm that the torch has now been passed to the Adamites of Southern Ontario. The exact location won't be known until the range of accomodations can be confirmed, but it looks like we'll see you all next year in Ontario!
Evening activities
Event Photo
Here is Bart in his best directorial style. The equipment wasn't co-operating for Guy Bona's session, so Zonker declared that suppertime was upon us.

group-b28
Group Photo
The instant version of the official AdamCon 11 group photo. Unfortunately, this picture cut off one person and almost two, but many more pictures were taken, so there should be a better one on these pages soon. In the back row are George Koczwara (off the left edge), Meeka Slopsema, David Luginbuhl, Ron Mitchell, Frances Clee, Herman Mason, Bob Slopsema, Richard Clee, Judy Slopsema, Doug Slopsema, Pat Herrington, Guy Bona. In front are Jeff Mitchell, Murray McCullough, Rich Drushel, Neil Wick, Dale Wick, and Bart Lynch.
Gathering for the official photo
Group Photo
As delegates gathered for the official photo, a sea of blue flooded the room with everyone in their AdamCon 11 shirts and hats. Many gathered around Ron Mitchell's photo album to help identify past AdamCon delegates. Ron's son Jeff (at lower left), attending his very first AdamCon, looks on.

Another view of the gang checking out Ron's pictures of past AdamCons. Clockwise from lower left are Jeff Mitchell, Doug Slopsema, Rich Clee (?), Bob Slopsema, Bart Lynch, Pat Herrington (leaning in closer to get a better look), Richard Clee (I think), and Guy Bona.
Richard's look at the future
Presentation Photo
Richard Clee gave a very thoughtful presentation on the state of the Adam community, and also gave his assessment on the future of get-togethers such as this one.
A demonstration of how to convert graphics from various IBM formats to PowerPaint formats for the Adam using BMP2PP.

Supergames
Presentation Photo
Dale's presentation concerned how to write a supergame. Session 1 concerned how to plan your menu map and what types of graphics can be used.
Supergames
Presentation Photo
The demo game uses screen mode 1 and can redefine many of the pre-defined text characters which then fit together into backgrounds and characters.
History of the microcomputer
Presentation Photo
C. Murray McCullough gave a very entertaining and interesting presentation of his view on the history of microcomputers.
History of the microcomputer
Presentation Photo
I'm disappointed that I can't show you Murray's wonderful renditions of the sound effects of microcomputer machinery of the past. You just have to make do with checking out Murray's Microcomputer History Web Page.
The Adam Emulator
Presentation Photo
In the absence of Mike Hurst, who couldn't make it to the Con, Ron Mitchell gave us some instruction on how to use Marcel Dekogel's Adam Emulator. The session turned momentarily into a panel discussion, with Dale explaining how disk interleaving works and why that's important to AdamEm users. Many in the audience started up the AdamEm last year after AdamCon 10, but couldn't advance past booting SmartWriter. After this year's session, they understand much more.
Making a Web Page
Presentation Photo
Neil Wick was given the honourable task of doing "the last AdamCon presentation of this millennium." This session concentrated on making graphics that load efficiently on Web pages and the advantages of Cascading Style Sheets for web page portability.
