PROGRAM

From Richard Drushel’s convention report, which confirms the sessions marked Held. The rest appear only in the bulletins sent out before the convention.

• Held A daily report, photograph or attendee account confirms it took place.
• Scheduled It appears in an agenda, but the final program may have changed.

1. John-Paul Gignac
Conway’s Game of Life, with an ADAM implementation by Dale Wick.
   Held
   Of MTAG.
2. Ron Mitchell
Moving files between the ADAM and other computers, especially PCs.
   Held
3. Neil Wick
Using web search engines effectively, with a handout comparing about ten of them.
   Held
4. Jillian Arnott and the “Ladies Auxiliary”
   ADAM Bomb II.
   Scheduled
Richard Drushel left for Richard Clee’s house as it was about to start, so his report does not confirm the session itself. The bulletins billed it as “AdamBomb 2 hints and tips”.
5. Ralph Veecock
Moderated a discussion: why old computers are still interesting.
   Held
Of MTAG. The bulletins billed it as the keynote.
6. Guy Bona
ADAMEm, and utility programs for making disk and tape image files from native ADAM media.
   Held
Guy had written QuickBASIC and Visual BASIC front ends for the utilities. The bulletins left this slot unassigned (“AdamEm and utilities by Volunteer Now!”).
7. Peter Searle
A hands-on SmartLOGO workshop, mostly on using recursion to draw fractal patterns.
   Held
Of MTAG. Drushel called it “superbly prepared”, with demo programs on disk at every workstation.
8. Richard Drushel
ADAMserve, which lets an ADAM use a PC’s devices over a serial link as if they were ADAMnet devices.
   Held
He came prepared to install it live on Richard Clee’s PC-XT; the session became a talk on its design instead.
9. Dale Wick
Writing SuperGames: designing non-player characters as finite-state machines.
   Held
Billed in the bulletins as “Writing SuperGAMES: artificial intelligence”.
10. Scott Gordon
The ADAM Resource and ADAM websites.
    Scheduled
In the second bulletin only; Drushel’s report does not mention it.
11. Presenter not identified
    Genealogy.
    Scheduled
Listed as tentative, with no presenter, in the second bulletin; Drushel’s report does not mention it.
