How to identify it A white banner ribbon across the upper third reading BASED ON THE REAL ARCADE GAME, with a line-drawn arcade cabinet sitting on the ribbon’s right end. Yellow television-shaped badge in the lower left, CBS ELECTRONICS in the lower right.

CBS Electronics took the ColecoVision into Europe in 1982 and printed its own boxes for it. This was the first template, and it barely survived the year - the ribbon reads BASED ON THE REAL ARCADE GAME rather than the JUST LIKE THE REAL ARCADE GAME of every box that followed, and the cabinet is a plain line drawing rather than a photograph.

The reference plate held in the archive is the blank template itself rather than a finished box, which is a useful thing to have: it shows the layout with nothing on it. Only one title is currently classified CBS0 in the catalogue, so if you own a European box with that ribbon wording, the museum would like to hear about it.
