CBS2 - Four Languages on a Black Field

How to identify it Four languages on the front, each in its own colour. Large artwork on a black field, a black strip at the top and bottom for text, and a CBS ELECTRONICS block at the foot listing the cartridge description four times over.

One box, four markets. CBS2 is where CBS Electronics stopped printing a box per country and started printing a box per continent: every claim on the front appears in English, French, German and Italian, each language given its own colour so a buyer can find their own line at a glance.

The catalogue also records a CBS2a - the same box with only three languages, English, French and German. Where a title is classified that way it is listed on this page alongside the four-language boxes, because the layout is otherwise identical.

About this list

These records come from the museum’s ColecoVision catalogue, so this page grows as the catalogue does. Box scans, release years and rarity are the catalogue’s; the classification on each card is either the box variant recorded against that title or, where none is recorded, an attribution taken from how the release is filed.

Box classification is a collectors’ convention rather than anything Coleco or CBS ever printed on a box, and reasonable references disagree at the edges. If you own something listed here that does not match what you see, or a box that is not listed at all, please get in touch — a photograph of the front is worth more than any description.
