Description
Before The Oregon Trail became the famous 1985 game, MECC’s Apple II classrooms had OREGON: a family of five, $700, and 2,040 miles from Independence to Oregon City in 1847.
You buy oxen, food, bullets, clothing and supplies. Then, two weeks at a time, you hunt, stop at forts, decide how well to eat, meet riders, and cross the mountains before the snow.
This is a line-by-line port of the 1980 program, taken from the original disk. It has MECC’s own map, wagon, deer, riders and wolves, drawn just as the Apple drew them.
It plays “Sweet Betsy from Pike” from the program’s own data, and keeps every message, every odd rule and every way to die.
On the ColecoVision it’s joystick only, with no typing: you set amounts with the stick and press the button to shoot.
Made with Amy Studio, with a manual and box art. Not affiliated with MECC or its successors.
