How to identify it
The case is a hinged plastic clamshell, and it comes in green, red, blue or yellow. Behind the lid sits a grey artwork page - A CBS Electronics Video Game Cartridge across the top, the title above an inset panel, HIGH RESOLUTION IMPACT GRAPHICS in English only, and a red strip reading FOR USE ON COLECOVISION ONLY above the CBS and ColecoVision logos.
CBS4 is a case, not a carton. The cartridge sits in a hinged plastic clamshell with a printed artwork page behind the lid, and the shell itself was moulded in green, red, blue and yellow - which is the first thing to look for, because it is the one feature no scan of the artwork will ever show you. The insert is the reason this classification is so often described wrongly. It is printed grey, in the same house style as the CBS3 carton, so a photograph of the artwork page on its own looks like a grey card box. The tells that separate it are the single language where CBS3 stacks five, and the red FOR USE ON COLECOVISION ONLY strip that no carton carries. If you are looking at a picture rather than an object, that red strip is what you go by. These went to Australia. The shell colour does not track the title - the same game turns up in more than one colour - so a complete CBS4 listing is really a listing of case colours, and collectors chase them accordingly.
Seeking for the collection
