About the ADAM Computer Software Library
The Coleco ADAM, released in 1983, was an innovative home computer system that built upon the success of the ColecoVision game console. Despite its short commercial lifespan, the ADAM developed a devoted following thanks to its impressive capabilities and versatile software library.
Our database contains detailed information on software released for the ADAM computer, including productivity applications, educational programs, games, and system utilities. Many titles were released on Coleco's proprietary Digital Data Pack cassettes, while others were available on cartridges, floppy disks, or standard cassette tapes.
The ADAM's software library included applications like SmartWriter (word processor), SmartBASIC (programming language), SmartLOGO (educational programming environment), and AdamCalc (spreadsheet). Third-party publishers such as Strategic, Victory, Walters Software and others also created software for the system, expanding its capabilities beyond what Coleco provided.
This archive aims to preserve the legacy of the ADAM Family Computer System by documenting its software. Many of these programs were innovative for their time and demonstrate the technological achievements of early 1980s home computing.
